The Buffalo Sabres today announced they have acquired forward Bennett MacArthur from the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for defenseman Colton Poolman. Additionally, the Rochester Americans acquired forward Jagger Joshua from the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins for future considerations. Both players will report to Rochester.
Bennett MacArthur Joins Rochester
MacArthur, 23, has accumulated three goals and four assists for seven points in 28 games this season with the Wheeling Nailers, Pittsburgh’s ECHL affiliate. Over his ECHL career, the Summerside, Prince Edward Island native has tallied 67 points (24+43) in 136 games and skated in six AHL contests with Syracuse.
During his junior career, MacArthur recorded 172 points (99+73) across five seasons with Summerside Western (MHL) and Acadie-Bathurst (QMJHL), including an impressive 17 playoff points over his final two seasons.
Jagger Joshua Bolsters Rochester’s Depth
Joshua, 25, has registered one assist in four AHL games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton and five points (3+2) in eight ECHL games with Wheeling this season. The Dearborn, Michigan native brings a strong collegiate resume from Michigan State University, where he notched 44 points (21+23) in 135 games and earned an NCAA Honorable Mention All-Star nod during his senior season.
Joshua also contributed 32 points in 91 USHL games with the Youngstown Phantoms and Muskegon Lumberjacks, adding six playoff points with Muskegon.
