A report from The Hockey News says that the Sabres are interested in trading for New York Rangers captain Jacob Trouba. The defenseman has two years left on his deal, with a cap hit of $8 million annually.
There is only one problem with this rumor: it comes from The Fourth Period and is not even a rumor. It’s just Trouba’s name with Buffalo listed as a ‘reportedly linked’ team, along with the Detroit Red Wings, Anaheim Ducks, and Nashville Predators.
The Fourth Period also has the Buffalo Sabres linked with other players like Carolina Hurricanes forward Martin Necas, a restricted free agent who has been rumored to be on the trade block.
Another player with the Sabres listed is unrestricted free-agent forward Rutger McGroarty, who was previously with the Winnipeg Jets.
There are more names, but I will not list them all. The full list of names is here.
